The old man and the gun

So, what if you made an action film, but instead of all those ridiculous and loud youngsters you had charming old Robert Redford just twinkling? And what if, to just remind you that he can mix it up with the best of them, you show short clips of his old films, when things actually happened?

I felt a little like i do with some well thought-out art project about the dignity of ageing. It was way more profound than any number of superhero films, but after a couple of minutes (most of which was in the trailer) I got the profundity and didn’t need much more.

And I’m still not too sure of the point of the detective dressed in 80s brown and an inexcusable moustache. But any film with Tom waits in it can’t be all bad.
