Shoplifters

Well, it won all sorts of awards and got some good reviews, including, if i remember rightly, from Melanie Byers.

But i just couldn’t get into it at all

The nearest comparison that i can make is with leviathan, another film that won awards and plaudits, but to me was just a load of stuff happening to people i wasn’t really invested in emotionally.

I’m sure all sorts of that stuff was Socially Relevant but i just wasn’t engaged enough to care

Maybe it was the father’s silly moustache, maybe there’s just a sort of worthy film that just doesn’t do it for me, but thete you are.

Maybe a couple of car chases would have cheered me up
